Looking Back on Bridge 2017

Yet another Bridge has come and gone, and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to connect with our customers, both old and new. We wanted to take some time to reflect on the conference and share some of the highlights for those of you who couldn’t make it.

This year’s Bridge was held in Columbia, SC, a special location for us as it is the home of our headquarters. We kicked off the conference on Tuesday, October 10 with customers traveling from as far as California, Oregon and Massachusetts, as well as some coming from as close as Columbia! It was so fun to see so many different kinds of school districts and universities come together and share ideas.

Back by popular demand, our system experts hosted boot camp training sessions on both Tuesday and Friday, and with six boot camp options to select from, attendees had the opportunity to receive a half day of training on all of the Softdocs products. I heard several attendees say the boot camps were so beneficial that those alone justified the price of registration!

After attendees had settled into their hotels and the boot camps had wrapped up, everyone convened back at the Convention Center for the opening reception followed by our annual Dine Around, which pairs attendees with the Softdocs team for an evening full of food and fun at some of the area’s best restaurants.

Wednesday officially kicked off the educational portion of the conference with five session tracks: Hands-On, Trends & Best Practices, Etrieve, Softdocs in Action and Doc e & Add-Ons. Each track featured tailored sessions presented by our system experts, as well as some sessions presented by customers. Customer presentations are one of the highlights of Bridge as it gives attendees a valuable perspective on specific uses of our solutions. We also included several Town Halls in this year’s session schedule which opened the floor for questions and discussion – these were quite popular!

After a night off to explore all that Columbia has to offer, Thursday was day two of sessions. Throughout the conference, we welcomed attendees to our Discovery Hall to view demos of our solutions and ask our Developers and Sales Engineer any questions they had. Sessions wrapped up early on Thursday to make time for One-on-One Consultations. Attendees could sign up for one-on-one meetings with our team to discuss any questions or projects. These consultations were also a huge hit – the opportunity to sit down face-to-face with someone from services, development or sales proved to be extremely beneficial!

Thursday night was the infamous Bridge social event! This year’s theme, Down Home with Softdocs, was an ode to Bridge being hosted in our hometown. Attendees were invited to The Haven, the event space connected to our headquarters for dinner, drinks and dancing. From the delicious southern food to the tailgate-style games and dancing, Down Home at Softdocs was the perfect time to unwind after two full days of sessions. We also loved showing attendees around our headquarters and allowing them a sneak peek into where it all happens. Rumor has it that we may have even beat the world record at big Jenga – we’ll report back to see if that is true.

Friday, the final day of Bridge, wrapped up with Round Tables and the closing session. Round Tables were another fun way to get the conversation going among attendees and our team about specific solutions, departments and deployment options. Tables throughout the ballroom were labeled based on the topic of the conversation and attendees were welcome to bounce around tables as they pleased. As we closed out the conference, we selected the winner of the 2017 Client Innovation Award, a new addition to Bridge to highlight a Softdocs customer going above and beyond in how they use our solutions. This award was voted on entirely by Bridge attendees and the winner was William Jewell College, one of our customer presenters. We are very much looking forward to carrying on this new tradition to recognize customers’ innovative ways in using Softdocs.

Overall, Bridge was a blast and we are already counting down the days until Bridge 2019, which will be held March 10-13 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. We can’t thank our customers enough for taking the time to attend Bridge and spend a few days with us. We couldn’t do it without you all!
