To wrap up the trade show season, Softdocs was up and down the East Coast to several functions. We visited prospective and current customers all along the way and had a great time. As the holiday season draws near, we all have busy times ahead, but we hope they’re as exciting as the past couple months have been for us. We love ending the year on such a positive note.
FASBO is catered to members of the Florida Association of School Business Officers and this year’s conference took place at the Waldorf Astoria in beautiful Naples, FL, October 2 – 5.
The hotel and views were breathtaking and the Florida Food Service teamed up with FASBO to deliver some delicious local-style food. The conference attendees were able to walk away with knowledge from some excellent sessions and we really enjoyed our time with everyone in the sunshine state.
PADUG, which took place at the Sheraton Hotel Harrisburg/Hershey on October 15 and 16, was a great event for institutions in the Pennsylvania Area. The fellowship between attendees and vendors made this conference so special. From speakers to sessions, from board members to Ellucian’s presence; it was just a great time. Since we have been one of PADUG’s long-standing key sponsors, we no longer need an interpreter to translate Southern speech to the Mid-Atlantic attendees. Yeehaw! Ha!
IIPS, which is a part of the North Carolina Community College System, was a three-day conference held at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center in New Bern, NC October 22 – 24. IIPS has developed over the past few years and has proved to provide significant value to its constituents. The riverfront New Bern Convention Center was a great location for the conference with plenty of places to eat, drink and see the town. The board did a great service to vendors by allowing each vendor a few minutes to pitch their products and services after the luncheon. We received many good vibes from our valued customers and we can’t wait for site visits to occur as a follow-up to this show.
Besides the DUG national conference earlier this year, Educause is the largest trade show Softdocs attended in 2012. Educause, which took place in Denver, CO November 6 – 9 was a great opportunity to speak with our attending customers and see what is going on in the Higher Education marketplace. And, what did we learn? Mobile, Mobile and Mobile all centered on the student experience! Many ERP’s attended and Ellucian introduced its new trade show booth, which was very soothing and inviting to attendees. This show was great for adding vision to our upcoming goals and understanding of the future of Higher Education.
GASBO’s 47th Annual Conference took place the same week as Educause and was held at the Marriott Riverfront in Augusta, GA. The hotel was a terrific location for the conference and provided great views overlooking the river. We were able to meet with several of our current customers in Georgia out of the over 350 participants. PC Genesis had a strong presence at the conference and it made us excited for new ways we are looking to integrate with this ERP for our Georgia customers.
SEDUG serves a large area including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda. We enjoyed attending this conference at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort November 14 – 16 not only because it is in our home state, but because we were able to interact with so many of our current customers from all over. We hosted the Softdocs Annual Social on Wednesday night and had our biggest crowd ever, which made it a lot of fun and gave us the chance to meet new people. After SEDUG, we were able to walk away with stronger connections with our current customers and also some great opportunities to what we hope will lead to growing the Softdocs family.
What a busy but fun season it has been! Next week, we’ll be back on the road as we head to GASPA, our last conference of the year, which will take place in St. Simons Island, GA. Be sure to stop by our booth if you will be in attendance. As always, please let us know of any events that you would like us to attend and we would be happy to try to work it into our travel schedule.
Until then, we hope all of you—however busy it may be—will have a very fun, relaxing and safe Thanksgiving!
