William Scalf - Security Architect, Softdocs
As Security Architect for Softdocs, a privately-owned software company providing enterprise content management and print customization solutions to the education market, William Scalf is responsible for the company’s single sign-on (SSO) platform as well as significant portions of the product infrastructure.
Since joining Softdocs in 2011, William has successfully led several key development projects, authored numerous articles on cybersecurity and established himself as a premier security expert. William currently serves as Softdocs’ primary contact with Bugcrowd - a crowd-sourced cybersecurity company that uses white hat security researchers to find and eliminate vulnerabilities. In this capacity, William oversees the identification and remediation of potential vulnerabilities before the release of product to customers.
A self-described hacker-turned-programmer, William traces his passion for programming back to his preteen years when he taught himself the fundamentals of programming and began participating in online hacking challenges. William received a degree in software development from Western Governors University and holds six different CompTIA certifications. He is a co-leader of the Columbia, SC chapter of OWASP, a global nonprofit that works toward improving security online, and frequently speaks in the community on pressing security topics.
